After a below par performance in the Commonwealth games where they finished eighth, the national sevens rugby team Shujaa will be back in action on Saturday at the 8th leg of the HSBC World Sevens series at the National Stadium, Kallang in Singapore.

Kenya has been placed in Pool B alongside England, USA and France in Singapore Sevens. Shujaa’s  first match will be against England on Saturday 28th April at 7:52am then France 7s comes calling at 11:18am before winding up group matches against USA at 2:44pm Kenyan time.

The team has finished runners-up in the last two legs of the HSBC series in Vancouver 7s and Hong Kong 7s after losing to Fiji 7s twice. Singapore Sevens evokes good memories, as it was the theater for Kenya’s maiden Main Cup trophy on April 17, 2016 when Kenya beat 30-7 in the final.

After finishing runners in the Vancouver and Hongkong, the Kenya 7s gained 38 points to push their total to 83 and position seven in the HSBC Sevens Series ranking. After Singapore, the team will participate in the final two legs in London and Paris.
