Shujaa, Lionesses relish experience gained in Madrid

Kenya's men's and women national teams both finished second at the second round of the Inter Region Sevens in Madrid, Spain this past weekend. Shujaa, the men's team, fell to a 45-7 defeat to Argentina in the championship match while the Lionesses lost 19-0 to Russia in the women's decider.

Commenting on their experiences in Spain, men's head coach Innocent Simiyu said," we were exposed at the restarts and work on improving this ahead of our next assignments."

Women's head coach Felix Oloo said, " we have picked a lot of valuable lessons especially in terms of playing at a high intensity. We take these lessons positively as we prepare for upcoming activities."

Both teams have qualified as Africa's representatives in the rugby sevens competition at the Tokyo Olympics set for July.
