Shakava has to make his decision, says Oktay
Gor Mahia head coach Hassan Oktay has told skipper Harun Shakava to make a decision whether or not he wants to stay with the league champions
Gor Mahia head coach Hassan Oktay has told skipper Harun Shakava to make a decision whether or not he wants to stay with the league champions for the new season. Shakava’s contract with Gor ends in December and is yet to agree to a new deal with multiple reports claiming he is on his way out of the club.
Newly promoted side Wazito FC have been strongly linked with the defender. “Yes we are interested in him and we have made it known to Gor, but we can’t force the move through. We will wait for him to make his decision,” Wazito coach Fred Ambani stated.
And now, Oktay says the skipper has to make a decision early enough as the club wants to keep him.
“He is still part of the team; he is the captain, he is a Gor Mahia guy and it is up to him at the end of the day. If he wants to leave he can leave. He is a good player, a good captain with lots of experience but at the end of the day he has to make the decision on what he wants to do,” Oktay stated.
Shakava has been with the club since 2014 when he signed from Kakamega Homeboyz and has had a successful stint as skipper, leading the team to league titles in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018.
