Rising Starlets face uphill task in Uganda

Kenya’s Rising Starlets have a mountain to climb when they take on Uganda’s Crested Cranes in the second leg of their  FIFA U20 Women’s Cup qualifier at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kampala on Friday 8 October 2021.

Hammered 2-7 in the first leg in Nairobi a fortnight ago, the Kenyans must win by six goals to advance to the second round of qualifying where the winner of the clash between Mozambique and South Africa lays in wait.

Head Coach Charles Okere remains optimistic ahead of Friday’s clash.

Speaking to Football Kenya Federation’s media team on Thursday, Okere said, ““Our aim is to attain a positive result against Uganda, and from the training, we have had, I believe that the players are ready for the tough but not impossible task ahead.”

He will pick his squad from

Goalkeepers: Ursula Nasimiyu (Dagoretti Mix),  Lucy Kisaga (Gitothua Starlets),  Sophy Akinyi (Manyatta Ladies).

Defenders: Peris Oside (Nakuru Queens), Mercy Masika (Dagoretti Mix), Eunice Mwangi (Mpesa Foundation), Invioleta Mukoshi (St John’s Kaloleni), Lucy Kahuga (Madira Girls), Redempta Mercy (Madira Girls)

Midfielders: Drailer Salome (Tigers FC), Lydia Akoth (Zetech Sparks), Maximilla Robi (Beijing FC), Milka Awino (Zetech Sparks), Catherine Aringo (Fortune Ladies), Jane Hato (Madira Girls), Lavender Akinyi (Wiyeta Girls), Mildred Kanyisi (Dagoretti Mix).
