Omanyala anchors Kenya to historic 4 x 100m gold

The Kenyan quartet which also comprised of Mike Mokamba, Sammy Imeta and Dan Kivaisi clocked 39.28 seconds to win a maiden gold for Kenya in this event ahead of South Africa who clocked 39.70 seconds with Zimbabwe claiming the bronze in 39.98 second

Ferdinand Omanyala anchored Kenya to a historic gold medal in the 4 x 100m at the African Championships in Mauritius on Friday.

The Kenyan quartet which also comprised of Mike Mokamba, Sammy Imeta and Dan Kivaisi clocked 39.28 seconds to win a maiden gold for Kenya in this event ahead of South Africa who clocked 39.70 seconds with Zimbabwe claiming the bronze in 39.98 seconds.

Omanyala had earlier won the men’s 100m after defeating South Africa’s Akine Simbine in a photo finish after both men had clocked 9.93 in Thursday’s final.
