Harambee Stars triker Micheal Olunga made his Spanish La Liga debut on Sunday 17th September after coming on for Cristian Portugues in the 80th minute of the clash between his new side Girona and Sevilla at Municipal de Montilivi .

Luis Muriel scored the only goal of the match in the 69th minute for the visitors Sevilla. Girona's Álex Granell  hit the bar from the penalty spot in the 90th minute to deny his side an equalizer.

After four matches into the season, Girona have four points and are placed 14th in the Primera Division table.

Olunga announced his arrival in Spain with a brace against lower tier side CF Ripoll last week in  a one sided friendly that ended 8-0 in favour of Girona.

Olunga is on loan at Girona from Chinese side  Huizhou Zhicheng. He has a chance to cement his name in the books of history by becoming the first Kenyan to score in the Spanish La Liga.

The only other Kenyan to have played in the La Liga is MacDonald Mariga who turned out for Real Sociedad. Mariga now plies his trade with second division Spanish club Real Oviedo.
