Oburu ditches Ingwe for Wazito FC

With nine premiership goals to his name in his three seasons with Ingwe, Oburu failed to agree on terms with the club when they offered him a contract extension deal in February. This necessitated his move.

Wazito Football Club has snapped forward Vincent Oburu from AFC Leopards. The Club unveiled Oburu late this week, a few days after parting ways with Leopards, also known as Ingwe.

“We are pleased to announce the signing of striker Vincent Oburu from AFC Leopards. We expected him to boost our attack ahead of the 2020/2021 FKF Premier League campaign,” said Wazito FC on their official website.

The 22-year-old Kenya international forward started his journey at Shofco FC soon after completing his High School education at Lang’ata High. Soon Boniface Ambani enrolled him to the Ingwe’s youth team and where his knocks on the senior team door broke open a year later in 2018.

With nine premiership goals to his name in his three seasons with Ingwe, Oburu failed to agree on terms with the club when they offered him a contract extension deal in February. This necessitated his move.

After making the career decision by signing up for a new challenge at Wazito FC, the left-footed striker said:

“I am happy to join this team. It is a good step in my career because it gives me an opportunity to work hard and improve. I want to work well with my coach and teammates to achieve the team’s goal- which is winning titles.”

He also urged Wazito FC’s fans to continue supporting the team, promising that he and other newly signed players will help catapult the club to the next level.

Wazito’s head coach Fred Ambani (Boniface’s brother) welcomed the pacey forward characterising him as a quality addition to his fold.

“I think Oburu needs no introduction. He is a very good striker and he definitely adds quality to the team. One of our problems last season was failing to score goals and I think with him in the team he will help solve that problem,” noted Ambani.
