It is now official , Nzoia United are the new Champions of the National Super League  following their away weekend win over St. Josephs FC  to seal their authoritative form this season where they have only lost a single match.

On Sunday , Nzoia stretched to unassailable lead with a 1-0 win over St. Josephs at the Afraha stadium in Nakuru taking their  total points to 85 - 14 points ahead of second placed Kariobangi Sharks- thus being promoted to the Premier League next season returning after over a decade since the disbandment of the team.

Patrick Kwitonda scored in the 25th minute to  help the side lift the title with four matches to the end of the season.

Speaking to after their win on Sunday , Nzoia United head coach Bernard Mwalala attributed their success this season to the commitment of the entire team, " I thank every member of this amazing family from our dedicated management , the technical bench, the hardworking players and our fans who have walked the journey with us through the season."He said.

" It is now another challenge to sit down and focus on how we shall strengthen our weak areas because the  Premier League is a totally different ball game and we need to approach it with all the firepower we can gather." Mwalala added.

Nzoia fc was disbanded in 2004 by the then board of director’s allegedly for running the company into losses. The then team’s management was also found guilty of squandering company funds through dubious expenditures, a finding that led to the sacking of all the soccer officials implicated in the racket.

Nzoia was among the top clubs in the region alongside Mumias Sugar fc and Pan Paper fc all of which do not exist after being disbanded by their respective support companies.

Nzoia will now join Western Stima and Kakamega Homeboyz as the only teams from the talent rich Western region in the Premier League and will be the only team from Bungoma County.
