Malkia Strikers qualify for semi finals after win over Tunisia

Kenya's women national volleyball team on Saturday qualified for the semi finals at the ongoing Africa Olympic qualifiers in Yaounde Cameroon  following their3-0 (25-20,25-17,25-23) win over Tunisia.

Kenya easily won the opening two sets 25-20,25-17 but Tunisia staged a resilient comeback in the finals set pushing Kenya to the edge by overcoming a 10 point deficit to draw level at 22-22.

 The Kenyan Queens however stopped the North African advance with a 25-23  third set victory to kick off their qualifying campaign on a positive note .

This was the second loss for the Tunisian side that also fell to host nation Cameroon with a 3-2 margin on Friday, completing their Group A matches without any win .

The Malkia Strikers will next face Cameroon on Sunday in a match that will determine the group winner.

In another match also played on Saturday, Egypt  overpowered Botswana 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-17) to win  the second ticket of Pool B to the semifinal of Olympic qualifier.

The top two teams in each Pool will qualify for the semi finals of the seven nations' tournament whose  winner will earn a direct ticket to represent Africa at the Rio Olympic Games in Brazil in August.
