Malkia Strikers land in Cameroon

The Kenya women's volleyball team has safely landed in Yaounde Cameroon ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympics qualifiers that commence on Friday.

The Kenya team landed  late on Wednesday afternoon from Nairobi  aboard a direct Kenya Airways flight , had light lunch and immediately headed for training.

The team has also linked up with captain Mercy Moim who flew direct to Yaounde from her  base in Finland.

"We arrived safely and the players have already hit the ground with their first training." Confirmed Kenya Volleyball Federation Chairman Waithaka Kioni who is leading the Kenyan delegation.

Other teams that have already landed in the Cameroonian capital include Tunisia, Algeria ,Uganda,Botswana among others.

Only one team will earn direct qualification in the championships with the  second and third placed sides heading for playoffs  with yet to be determined teams from other continents.

Kenya is seeking an Olympics berth for the first time since 2004 in Greece.
