Korir and Cherono dominate Ndalat Gaa weekend meet

Athletes rushing for front spots at the start of the 2017 Ndalat Gaa Senior men 10KM Cross Country last weekend in Nandi County

Nicholas Korir last weekend emerged winner of the men’s 10kilometres Senior category during the 9th Edition of Isaiah Kiplagat Ndalat Cross Country Championships held in Nandi County.

Korir posted 31:05.6  to bag 50,000 shillings closely followed by Noah Kipkemboi who clocked  31:10.0 to take home 40,000 shillings in prize money .Emmanuel Bor was third in time of 31:14.4. 

 In the senior women’s category, Sandra Cherono who won the just concluded Safaricom Kericho Road Race last weekend, clocked a time of 28:07:06 to come ahead of  Eve Cherono who posted 28:31.0. Pascalia Jepkorir in time ( 28.40.03) was third.

Over 3500 athletes took part in the championships which was flagged off at Ndalat Gaa Girls Secondary School. The race received KES 2 Million in cash from national athletics series sponsors Safaricom who also held a  medical camp for the residents of Ndalat.
 
Other races in the Safaricom Athletics Series include Madoka Half Marathon, Imenti South Road Race and Kisumu Town Marathon, which will wind up this year’s edition in December.The Madoka Half Marathon is scheduled to take place on 21st October 2017.
