Kipsang turns focus to political campaigns after Tokyo success

After winning the Tokyo marathon over the weekend, Wilson Kipsang is now  focusing on  a different kind of race.The former world marathon record holder is vying for Keiyo South parliamentary seat in the August polls.

Kipsang on Sunday won the Tokyo marathon in a course record and he has now focused his sight on the politics.

"I am happy that I made history in Tokyo winning with a course record though I missed the world record I was aiming." He said.

"My next move is to continue my campaigns and with God's glory I will triumph," He added.

Before heading to Tokyo, he had outlined his plans saying he was targeting Tokyo and parliamentary wins.

"I have now achieved one and there is still one, to be an Mp so that I can fight for the developments of our people," He said.

In Tokyo Kipsang clocked 2:03.58 for the victory beating Gideon Kipketer runner-up in 2:05:51 and former winner Dickson Chumba third in 2:06:25. Evans Chebet (2:06:42), Alfers Lagat (2:07:39) and Bernard Kipyego (2:08:10) for the first six positions.
