Kipchoge left out of the 2017 London Marathon men's elite list

Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has been left out in the men’s elite list for the 2017 Virgin London Marathon released today.

Kipchoge who won the London marathon last year with a course record of 2:03.5 before going ahead to win Olympic Marathon title in Rio has not been included.

Instead Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele leads the elite field with Kenya’s Stanley Biwott ranking second in the personal best time entry.

Bekele missed a world record by just six seconds at the Berlin marathon last year after a mouth-watering battle with former world record holder Wilson Kipsang.

He clocked 2:03.03 for the victory to rank world second fastest marathoner of all time.

Biwott who placed second at the 2014 and 2016 London marathon has 2:03.51 he timed last year in London with Abel Kirui the winner of Chicago marathon also in the list and world half marathon silver medallist Bedan Karoki set to make a debut.
