Kenya Volleyball Federation President Waithaka Kioni believe that the country will have three team sports in Rio Olympics with the Volleyball boss tipping Malkia Strikers to grab the sole Olympic slot in Puerto Rico during the Continental qualifiers set for mid May.

Kioni who was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of AMACO tournament said Kenya,  though is in a tricky pool stand a higher chance of toppling Algeria,  host Puerto  Rico and Colombia  from the single ticket to Rio. Kenya missed the direct ticket qualifiers during the Continental qualification held early this year in Cameroon where they lost at the semi final to Egypt.

"I think every team is a threat but we have sent the best squad with the help of FIVB.  I believe we will have a team in Rio," said Kioni who is also the Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) Beach Volleyball Commission chairman.

If they secure the ticket,  Volleyball will join rugby (sevens) which will send both the men and women's teams.

After the Olympic qualifiers, the team will travel to Argentina for the start of the World Grand Prix Group 2 competition on June 3 to 5, when they will compete with Bulgaria, the Dominican Republic and hosts Argentina
