Kenyan duo enjoying Copa experience in Berlin

With only a few days to the start of the 27th edition of Copa Coca-Cola, two young Kenyan footballers from last year’s tournament, together with other over 100 footballing teens from around the world received top-of-class training at a six-day International Camp.

The International Camp held in Berlin, Germany enabled the youngsters forge friendships and gain valuable skills both on and off the pitch.

Benson Matheka Nzioka, a student at Koemalel School in Gilgil together with Brian Mumo Mwau from Nyeri High school were invited alongside youngsters from 26 other countries to attend this year’s Copa Coca-Cola International Camp. The two were at the national championship after a grueling series of regional rounds that were held across the country.

Now in its 27th year, Copa Coca-Cola unites football-loving teens in every continent around the world, promoting an active lifestyle and encouraging values that are the foundation of life and sportsmanship.   The six-day trip to Berlin was packed with training sessions, workshops, games, events and coaching and guidance from members of Germany’s 2014 FIFA World Cup winning football team.

The International Camp gives young players the opportunity to pursue their football dreams, make new friends from different countries and together recognize the importance of playing different roles within a team.

Highlights of the Copa Coca-Cola event will include an Opening Ceremony, training sessions with Hansi Flick - assistant coach of the 2014 FIFA World Cup winning German national team - and daily challenges in the grounds of the prestigious Lindow Sports Academy.
