Kenya women team sweeps top six positions at the World Cross Country in Kampala
The Kenyan women team staged an amazing performance on Sunday exerting their dominance and class by sweeping all the medals at the 2017 Senior Women World Cross Country Championship at the Kololo grounds in Uganda.
The Kenya senior women 's team made history as they swept the medals chart for the first time and crossed the line in the top six positions to confirm their superiority over the distance.
National Cross Country champion Irene Cheptai led the strong field with gold followed by Africa Cross Country Champion Alice Aprot who finished second. Lillian Kasait Rengeruk completed the Kenyan podium sweep in third place.
At the same time , Kenya's team led by Asbel Kiprop clocked 22:22 to win the inaugural IAAF mixed relay beating the Ethiopian team who finished second with 22:30.Turkey finished third with a time of 22:37.
Earlier at the same course, Jacob Kiplimo stunned the field to excite his home crowds as he stormed home with the junior men's gold.
