Kenya in Pool B as Africa volleyball championship commence in Cameroon

Kenya’s women volleyball team has been drawn in Pool B ahead of the start of the Africa Nations championships that commence in Cameroon on Saturday afternoon.
The defending champions –Kenya- headline Pool B that also includes Tunisia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal and Nigeria while hosts Cameroon will battle it out for supremacy against Algeria, Botswana and Egypt.
Kenya return to Cameroon with a hope of redemption after failing in their last attempt to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games where they lost to Egypt in the semi finals . Cameroon went ahead to qualify despite having lost heavily to Kenya in the Pool matches.
Having withdrawn from the 2016 World Grand Prix, Kenya has their eyes fixed on a return to world competitions with qualification to the World Championships set to be held in Japan in 2018. The top two teams at the competition will earn a ticket to represent Africa in Japan.
Other teams that have already qualified include defending champions USA, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Italy, Azerbaijan, Germany. Others are The Netherlands and Bulgaria from Europe, Brazil from South America, and China, Kazakhstan, Korea and Thailand from Asia.
