Kandie pips Kamworor in Istanbul

Kibiwott Kandie of Kenya won the men's race at the Istanbul Half Marathon in a time of 59:35 on Sunday 4 April 2021.

Kandie, who set the world record in Valencia last year, raced into the lead with about 12 minutes remaining and held off the challenge of compatriot Geoffrey Kamworor to claim victory by three seconds, with Roncer Kipkorir taking third place.

The world half marathon silver medallist reeled in early leader Benard Ngeno with about 12 minutes remaining before going on to open up a gap of his own.
