Heroic Kipsang still eyes World Marathon record

Former world marathon record holder Wilson Kipsang has revealed that he still has the ambition to set a world mark in marathon.

Dennis Kimetto is the current world marathon record holder with 2:02:57 he set in Berlin in the year 2014.

It was Kipsang' second attempt for the world record after missing it last year at Berlin where he set his personal best time.

Kipsang set the new target while speaking on Saturday upon arrival  from his successful trip in Japan, " I am very happy for the performance though I didn't hit my target of a world record, "He said.

According to Kipsang it was a bit cold hence heavy winds " But given another opportunity and good weather I still have intentions of setting the world record, "Kipsang said.

He said his first target to win Tokyo marathon has been achieved and he is now focusing on racing to Parliament.

" I want to serve the people more through equitable distribution of resources and meaningful developments. I am vying for Keiyo south parliamentary seat and that is what I am focusing on at the moment," He added.

At the Eldoret Airport he was treated to a heroic reception after which the convoy snaked its way to Elgeyo Marakwet county.
