Hellen Obiri delivers Commonwealth Gold in a 1-2 Kenya finish
Commonwealth 5,000m : Obiri clocked 15:13.11 to shrug off challenge by Kipkemboi who timed 15:15.28
Hellen Obiri led a Kenya 1-2 in the Commonwealth 5,000m final at Gold Coast, Asutralia on Saturday winning Kenya's third gold followed by compatriot Margaret Kipkemboi who took silver.
Obiri timed 15:13.11 to shrug off challenge by Kipkemboi who clocked 15:15.28.This is her first Commonwealth gold.
Laura Weightman of England took the last medal on offer ahead of Ugandan Juliet Chekwel.
The third Kenyan in the race Eva Cherono finished 7th.
Kenya now has 4 gold medals (Wycliffe Kinyamal, Conseslus Kipruto, Hellen Obiri and Elijah Manangoi).Overall Kenya has 17 medals (4 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze) and are placed 13th in the Commonwealth Games medal table.
Kenya could bag more medals in the Marathon races set for Sunday.
