Heavy loss for Ulinzi Stars in Egypt

Kenya's Ulinzi Stars on Friday evening succumbed to a humbling 4-0 defeat in the hands of Egyptian side  Smouha in a CAF Confederation Cup first round, first leg encounter played at the at the Borg al Arab Stadium in Alexandria Egypt.

The heavy first leg defeat has cast a dark cloud on the team's progressing chances as they will have to stage a 4-0 return leg triumph in Nairobi to be even with the Egyptian side in the return leg to be played in Nairobi or a 5-0 win to qualify to the next round.

The Kenyan Premier League side that finished second  in the domestic cup last season behind Tusker qualified for the first round of the competition after a 5-4 post match penalty triumph against  Al Hilal Benghazi  of Libya  on February 18.

Coached by Benjamin Nyangweso, Ulinzi  had lost 1-0 away in Cairo but returned home to overturn the result with a 1-0 win in Nairobi forcing a penalty shootout.

The side  was without  their top scorer John Mark Makwatta who has landed a new deal in Europe.
