The 60,000 seater Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani went into a frenzy as Harambee Starlets made history by securing a first ever African Cup of Nation finals ticket after overpowering powerhouse Algeria.

The Starlets came from behind to pull a one all draw and earn the ticket by virtue of away goals.

In Algiers, Algeria, last Friday, the contest ended in a 2-2 draw and with a 1-1 scoreline at Kasrani yesterday, the Starlets ensured they will be among the eight nations competing in the showpiece later in November in Cameroon.

Cheris Avilia was the golden girl of the evening equalising in the 75th minute after the visitors had rattled them with a 20th minute lead through  Bouheni Naima.

Avilia,`s goal saw the stadium break into song and dance as the crowd appreciated the moment.

Head coach David Ouma, on the other hand was over the moon."I'm very pleased with the girls .They showed character.I wanna thank everybody;the media for the support, the federation for good logistics. The girls never lacked anything,"an emotional Ouma said after the match.

The Starlets will now take a breather before embarking on preparations for the Cameroon assignment.
