GSU , Prison win KVF Open Championships in Nyeri
Current National volleyball champions General Service Unit are the champions of the just concluded Kenya Volleyball Federation National Open Championship.
GSU Lifted the crown in Nyeri at the Kamukunji grounds after defeating their long time rivals Kenya Prisons 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 26-24) in the finals on Sunday.
At the same time Kenya Prisons ladies team had an exciting day as they edged out their rivals Kenya Pipeline in straight sets of 3-0 (25-16, 27-25, 25-20) to carry home the women’s title.
In the self sponsored category, Nairobi’s Huruma Queens registered 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-13) win over Equator to take home the title.
The finals were attended by a number of dignitaries including Webuye West MP, Honorable Dan Wanyama and Nyeri Town MP Honorable Ngunjiri Wambugu, Mukurewe-ini MP as well as the KVF President, Waithaka Kioni and KVF 1st Vice Chair,Charles Nyaberi, 2nd Vice Chair, SACP David Kilundo, deputy Treasurer, Moses Mbuthia, National sports organizing secretary Ismael Chege and his deputy Oronje among others.
The 5th leg of the league CUM Mombasa County Tournament will be held in July in Changamwe, Mombasa County.
