Gor to face DC Motema Pembe in Kagame Cup
Gor Mahia pooled in Group D of Cecafa Kagame Cup
Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have been drawn against Congolese giants DC Motema Pembe in Group D of this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup to be held in Rwanda from July 6-21. The record Kenyan champions will also tackle Zanzibar’s KMKM and Djibouti’s AS Ports.
The games will be spread across three cities with the capital Kigali having two venues while Rubavu and Huye will host one group each. Gor will have their group D matches in Rubavue, one of the cities which hosted the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Kenya’s other representatives Bandari have been drawn in the pool of death, Group B with defending champions Azam FC of Tanzania, Mukura Victory of host nation Rwanda and Uganda’s Kampala City Council Authority. They will play their games in Huye district.
Host team Rayon Sports will be in Group A alongside DR Congo giants TP Mazembe, Tanzania’s KMC and South Sudan’s Atlabara. They will have their games in Kigali. Group C has APR, Green Buffalos of Zambia, Proline of Uganda and Heegan of Somalia.
A record 16 clubs will take part in the competition with Tanzanian giants Simba and Yanga choosing not to participate. The winner will walk home with Sh3mn (USD30,000).
Gor Mahia finished third last time they were there in Tanzania while Bandari, champions of the FKF Shield are making their debut.

GROUP D- Gor Mahia (Ken), DC Motema Pembe (DRC), KMKM ( Zan) and AS Ports (DJI)-Rubavu.
