FKF submits Ksh 849 Million budget to Government

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has presented the Government of Kenya with a Ksh 849 Million budget for the year 2018.

During an interview with a local TV station Y254, FKF President confimed the development and hope that the Government will help the federation.

“Our total budget without the Clubs and Premier League is Ksh 849 Million, “ Said Mwendwa.

Mwendwa explained that  out of the budget,  FIFA will provide 125 Million of which Ksh 50 Million is set aside for administrative purpose while Ksh 75 Million is ring-fenced for FIFA specific projects.

Currently the Ministry of Sports meets  60% of National Men's and Women's teams costs.

Sports betting firm SportPesa have already indicated they will pull out of the sponsorship following new punitive taxation laws and that  that leaves  FKF with a Ksh 125Million budget deficit.

Mwendwa is however optimistic SportsPesa will reconsider their decisions  as talks are  ongoing. Other sponsors like Safaricom have expressed willingness to pump in Ksh 100 Million for the Chapa Dimba tournament.

New Sports Cabinet Secretary nominee Rashid Mohammed, a former boxer, will have his in-tray full should he passes the parliamentary vetting.
