Eliud Kipchoge receives honorary Degree
EGH Eliud Kipchoge has been awarded a honorary degree by Laikipia University for his achievements in the long distance running
World Marathon record Holder Eliud Kipchoge was on Friday awarded a honorary degree for his world achievements in the long distance race and for playing a crucial role of developing growth in Kenya.
Kipchoge earlier this year became the first man to run a marathon under two hours during the INEOS Challenge when he ran 1:59.40 in Vienna, Austria.
In a communication earlier in the week, Laikipia University noted Kipchoge's achievements and said , “Pursuant to Laikipia University Charter, 2013 Section II (21), (4) (k) on the conferment of Honorary Degrees and upon recommendation of the University Senate and approval thereof by the Laikipia University Council, the University has the pleasure to present Mr. Eliud Kipchoge to Kenyans and International community for the award of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) during the 7th Graduation Ceremony to be held on Friday, 6th December 2019 at the Graduation Square, Main Campus.”
Kipchoge was also recently awarded as the Male IAAF World athlete of the year and has also been nominated for the BBC Male athlete of the year.
