Ecuador hammer Haiti to confirm Copa America passage

South American side, Ecuador, booked a quarters passage at the Copa America with ease, having seen off Caribbean side Haiti 4-0 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Goals from by Enner Valencia, Jaime Ayobi, Christian Noboa and Antonio Valencia, were enough to secure a comfortable victory for Los Amarillos.

It was an even Group B game, in terms of possession, but Ecuador were clinical in their finishing. As early as the 11th minute, Noboa’s pass cut through the Haitian defense and found Enner Valencia. The forward, through on goal wasted no chance in sending the ball past keeper Johny Placide.

Nine minutes later, another through pass found Enner and his speed took him past Les Grenadiers defense. Goal scorer turned provider, as the simplest of passes found Ayobi with an empty net. The third goal came in the second half in the 57th minute after Swansea winger Jefferson Montero sent in a cross that was controlled well and smashed by Noboa into the net.

12 minutes from time, Ecuador capped a fine performance as yet another through pass found Enner on the loose. The West Ham striker provided his second assist of the game with a pass to his name sake Antonio to make it four, as Ecuador secured a match against Group A winners and hosts, USA, at the CenturyLink Field Stadium in Seattle, Washington on Friday morning Kenyan time.
