Chase Sailors Defeat Kabarak University

Captain George Mutira and Hesbon Galinga scored a hat trick each to fire Chase Sailors to victory over Kabarak University during Kenya Hockey Union division one league match today at City Park.

Coached by former Kenyan International, William Oketch, Chase Sailors beat visiting students 7-3 in the duel. The Sailors settled into the game immediately and Mutira netted an early field goal opener in the third minute. 12 minutes later the skipper added the second, and in the 17th, Galinga notched in the Sailors' third goal.

A 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes seemed too comfortable for Chase Sailors that a determined Kabarak University managed to make a comeback and lock the game at 3-3. Before the break, Reinhard Karani netted Kabarak's first goal in the 32nd minute. On resumption, Meshack Opwemba added the second through a penalty corner shot in the 39th while Duncan Kibet chipped in third and equalizing goal in the 54th minute.

Galinga added a double in the 58th and 60th minutes while Oscar Buluma scored one in the 67th. Captain Mutira scored his last a minute later, two minutes before the game ended.

Galinga credited his teamwork for the win saying: "It was a good match. Despite the scare when Kabarak came from behind and equalized, we played as a team, minimized on mistakes and we got the results. Credit goes to the team for setting me up to hit the hat trick," said Galinga.
