CECAFA draw to be conducted Friday in Kigali
CECAFA Kagame Cup makes a return this year and will be held in Rwanda in July with 13 teams expected to take part.

The CECAFA Kagame Cup will make a return this year after failing to take place last year owing to logistical challenges. This year’s showpiece will be staged in Kigali, Rwanda from July 6-21 with 13 teams already confirmed and the draw set for Friday.
Kenya will be represented by two teams; league champions Gor Mahia who finished third in the last edition held in Dar es Salaam as well as Football Kenya Federation Shield champions Bandari FC.
“We shall spread the matches in Kigali City, Rubavu and Huye Districts to enable the citizens of Rwanda and neighboring countries watch the matches Live,” CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye said.
Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe and DC Motema Pembe have been invited as guests alongside Zambia’s Green Buffalos and Malawi’s Big Bullets.
Defending champions Azam SC and KMC will represent Tanzania after giants Simba and Yanga both pulled out while Uganda will have KCCA and Proline. Rayon Sport and Apr represent Rwanda, Somali’s Heegan, Ports of Djibouti and Zanzibar’s KMKM will be the other participating teams.
The tournament will be used by most of the teams as pre-season and will also aid them to get ready for the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup matches that follow late July.
