CAF confirm Kenya's withdrawal from AWCON qualifier, hands Uganda direct qualification

This development comes after Barry Otieno, CEO of the disbanded FKF office wrote to CAF stating Kenya’s inability to prepare a team for the clash against Uganda, a move that came just days after the FKF Caretaker Committee had unveiled a new coach and named a squad that had already reported to camp for the game.

The Confederation of African Football has confirmed Uganda’s qualification for the 2022 AWCON set for July in Morocco.

A communication on their website posted on Saturday reads in part, “Football Kenya Federation (FKF) announced their withdrawal from the qualifiers of TotalEnergies Women's Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2022.

The double-header between Kenya and Uganda, initially scheduled in February 2022 as part of the last qualifying round, is therefore canceled. “
