Boost as Dan Wanyama sponsors Magharibi Michezo Awards
Webuye West Member of Parliament Dan Wanyama has donated Kes. 50,000 towards this year's edition of The annual Magharibi Michezo Awards.
Wanyama, a decorated volleyball player, has been part of the Magharibi Michezo Awards vision since inception having funded previous editions.
The legislator previously played for Cooperative Bank volleyball team and captained the national team to African championships during his youthful years when he was famously known as Amboseli.
To date , Dan Wanyama is still an passionate supporter of sports in Kenya and has also captained the national assembly team including during the recently held East African games in Bujumbura.
"I love working with visionary young persons especially when it comes to development projects. The vision of Magharibi Michezo Awards has remained consistent and I must applaud the organizers and the team behind the project and most importantly for their transparency and integrity." He said.
Wanyama reiterated the need to set up adequate structures in the Magharibi region that will support the development of fresh talents," Western has been known the world over to be a hot bed of greatness in sports and I want to encourage stakeholders and leaders to come together and support the initiative that is working towards realizing this dream."
The Magharibi Michezo Awards (MMA) is the premier sports awards ceremony in Western Kenya geared towards rewarding the achievements of the region’s athletes while celebrating the excellence of our Sportsmen and Women as well as encourages the next crop of sporting talent across the sports spectrum.
The MMA also seek to recognize the efforts of those individuals who have in one way or another nurtured and/or mentored the region’s sports icons. The awards are designed to be all encompassing, rewarding competitors from all sporting disciplines right to the grass root Level rather than simply focusing on the main professional sports.
This year the ceremony will be held on Saturday 22nd December at the Tourist Hotel Bungoma.
