Allan Wanga appointed Kakamega County Sports Officer
Tusker FC lead striker Allan Wanga has been appointed as Kakamega County Government Sports department officer.
Wanga will take up his role with immediate effect after his Thursday official appointment by the County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya in Kakamega town.
Becoming Kenya’s first active footballer to land such an influential high ranking government role, Allan Wanga will be in charge of supporting the county government’s commitment towards sports development which includes overseeing sports policy implementation across the county.
In addition to his appointment as the sports officer, Wanga will also switch from Tusker FC and will continue playing in the Kenyan Premier League at his home team, The Kakamega Homeboyz in the coming season.
The county Government of Kakamega under Governor Oparanya has put sports as one of its strong pillars aimed at creating opportunities for the youth in the region.
Among the many other initiatives rolled out, Kakamega County recently hosted the CECAFA senior challenge Cup at the newly refurbished Bukhungu stadium that now stands out as one of the best sports facilities in the region.
