AFC target victory in Bukhungu 'away' trip

Resurgent Ingwe keen to collect maximum points at Bukhungu

AFC Leopards will be away, but in all senses will be at home when they face Nzoia Sugar at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Wednesday evening. Leopards are looking for a second consecutive victory having beaten Bandari 2-1 in Machakos last weekend as head coach Cassa Mbungo looks to push them into the top five.

Leopards are placed 10th in the standings with 34 points and victory will potentially move them to eight in the standings, something that Mbungo says would be a huge morale booster to his boys.

“We are progressing on very well and I am happy with how we are playing. It is another tough match and we should work even harder to ensure we are winning. Our target is to finish the season in a very strong position and at this moment, every point counts for us,” Mbungo stated.

He hopes the players can play in the same spirit like they did against Bandari over the weekend with his focus being on giving a beautiful display on a ground that they consider a fortress.

“It was important to pick points against a team that is ahead of us in the standings and that has given us a lot of motivation. Now we have more confidence and I have faith we will do well,” the tactician further noted.
