Coast based side Sparki youth has landed sponsorship from a leading company in Mombasa - FOCUS. Sparki Youth - regarded as the most popular club in Mombasa- last week received news of their likely elevation to the Division one League and the news of sponsorship serves as an added joy to the club players and management who seem to have started a new year on a bright note.

According to team manager Said Kheri, the company –FOCUS- has committed to take care of the team’s expenses throughout the 2012 season.FOCUS is a company that deals with clearance at the port of Mombasa and mostly deals with handling  Cargo containers.

“ We are very excited by news that FOCUS is ready to extend their sponsorship towards our team. They were close to us towards the end of last season when we were  almost giving up due to financial troubles. They supported us to the end of the season and their full commitment is testimony that indeed they are happy with the partnership.” He said

“Now that we have received official communication from the Federation over our participation in the top league, we will work hard towards ensuring we give them value for their sponsorship by finishing on a respectable position on the league table.” Added Ali.

The team has announced commencement of scouting for five experienced players who will join their youthful side before the start of the new season. Coach Abdalla Ali has said they will start the scouting immediately to identify the five players: Two in defense, two in midfield and one striker to join the team as soon as possible.

According to a letter received by the club mid this week, FKF is considering elevating the Coast based side to the top league but only after The FKF leagues and Competitions Committee ratifies the same. The committee is yet to meet over the issue.

Sparki Youth finished 4th in last year’s nationwide 2 League behind Green Berets, Coast United and MOYAS respectively but later presented an appeal that seeks to award them six points which could see them finish the league in the third spot thus gaining elevation to the higher league.
