Rongai All Stars targeting Division One slot

Updated on 15/02/12  |    By ALEX ISOE

Rongai All Stars, a soccer team located in Kajiado County will be looking to turn around their fortunes this time around as they step up their campaign to clinch the Kajiado County crown as well as win the Sakata Ball competition.

The team that trains at the Nakeel grounds was started in 2009 with a view of helping the young people in the society improve their talent and facilitate the growth of soccer in Kajaido County.

According to the team manager Moses Kamalik, the team has made great progress since it was established in the year 2009 and has helped a lot of youths in the society establish their football careers and build good morals by discouraging drug abuse.

“The use of drugs is a major problem amongst the youths of our society. As a club with a solid Christian foundation, we seek to help and motivate the young people in our county and help them have a desire to live positively in life.” He says.

The club has put a program for kids under 14 and under 18 that will act as a feeder for the senior Rongai all stars.

“We also have session where the players have football classes in our head offices and teach them how to live” Said coach Edwin Kebaso.

“We are trying to give hope to the young people in the society. It has been a rough road but I am glad the team has achieved a lot in the last two years. With some of our players landing professional contracts to play in other top teams, it’s my dream that one day the team will take part in the top flight Kenyan Premier League because with hard work, determination and focus I believe we will be there in five years time” he adds.

The team’s Captain Evans James, says he is happy to see the team retain some of their Key players despite losing the services of the midfield duo of John Timba and Daniel Njenga to Division one side KSL Thola Glass.

“Among our main objectives is to retain our Kajaido county crown. It is going to be a difficult season but I hope we will get promoted to Division one because I believe our hard work will bear fruits at the end of the season. We also want to perform well in the SAKATA competition and represent Nairobi in the National Level in July.” he said.
