Kenya will be represented by seven drivers in this weekend’s Puma Energy Rally of Tanzania. The event counts towards the fourth round of the FIA African Rally Championship (ARC) series. KCB Safari Rally slated for July 5-7 will be the fifth Round of the ARC.

Ravi, a KNRC Division 3 and Group S Driver, will navigate Arusha industrialist and legendary Safari Rally veteran Jayant Shah in a Nissan 240 z. Kisumu-based Team Kibos of Jassi Chathhe and Gugu Panesar have entered an EVO9 while Don Smith will drive his new Subaru N14 contraption navigated by Bob Kaugi.

Shameer Yusuf, who recently rolled in Nakuru Rally’s spectator stage with Fahd Bary will call the pace-notes for Tanzanian Gurjit Singh Dhani. Former Safari Rally Clerk of the Course Sinder Suddle will co-drive Rajpal Singh Dhani of Tanzania.

The two legged rally is expected to cover a distance of over 300 kilometers mostly in Dar es Salaam and the Coastal Region of Tanzania. The start and finish will be at the TAZARA Railway Station.

Besides Puma Energy as the main sponsor of the event for the second year running, other supportive associate sponsors include Sunvic Express, D.B Shapriya, A to Z, National Insurance Corporation (NIC), CMC Automobiles ltd and Knight Support.
Other firms joining the sponsors’ pools for the first time include M/s Busara Cagro Machineries, Monster Energy Drink and New Africa Hotel which will be the official hotel of the event.

Out of the eight rallies lined up in the Automobile Association of Tanzania’s calendar for the ongoing season, the Puma Energy one is the fourth. The event promises to be thriller as domestic drivers will be concerned to earn some points for the national championship.
Moshi driver Guljeet Singh is leading the pack with 40 points eclipsing Arusha’s Eric Cormac by 3.5 point gap.

The chase for the Tanzanian national title is surely expected to be tight owing to the narrow gap leader has enjoyed thus far.
Leading the continental series is the Rwandan crew of Giancarlo Davite and Sylvia Vindevogel. Defending ARC champions Essa Mohamed of Zambia and his Zimbabwean partner Greg Stead are still rejoicing in the Rally Zambia win and hope to dislodge Davite from the top.
