The 62nd edition of the Safari Rally is expected to be flagged off this morning at the Kenyatta International Conference Center, raving off a three day grueling fight for supremacy as the top drivers in the region challenge for the crown.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to flag off the race on Friday morning before the cars head to Migaa for the first stage of competitive action. The cars will then later head for a 29-kilometer stage at  Lengetia  then a three-kilometer spectator stage before an overnight  stay at Sportman’s Arms Hotel  in Nanyuki.

Four time champion Carl Tundo is and Alistar Cavenagh are among those expected to challenge for the top title but will face stiff competition from Ivorian Champion Gary Chaynes who makes a maiden appearance on the Kenyan roads.

Uganda’s Jas Mangat is also among the foreign drivers expected to go for the crown and his experience on the Kenyan roads cannot be underestimated.

The race will continue on Saturday and Sunday all happening on closed roads.
