Nairobi’s Upper Hill boys high school collected maximum points from their three matches to finish on top of Group B in the ongoing National secondary schools soccer championships after defeating former champions Kakamega high school 1-0 in the final group match. The lone goal of the match was scored in the 30th minute by Timothy Luda.

In Group A, hosts Tononoka High School shocked champions Gekomoni from Nyanza with a 2-1 win. The match that was played at the Shimo la Tewa high school was a repeat of last year’s finals in Nairobi and served as good revenge for Tononoka who despite the win failed to qualify for the semis.

Group A was tight with defending champions Gekomoni, Kitale’s St.Anthony and hosts Tononoka all on six points but Tononoka dropped out with a weaker goal difference.

With the day’s results, Kakamega High school who finished second in group B with six points after wins over Kibirichia from Eastern and Tetu from Central will play St. Anthony’s from Kitale who topped Group A while  Upper Hill from Nairobi will play defending champions Gekomoni from Nyanza in the second semi finals. Gekomoni finished second in Group A.

The semi final matches will be played on Friday at 11:00AM with the winners from each semi final match qualifying for Saturday’s finals.
