Upper Hill cruise past Mangu to book finals slot

Upper Hill from Metropolitan beat hosts Mangu in the semi finals of the Brookside sponsored KSSSA basketball games on Friday afternoon to book a slot in the finals in which they will play against Paul Otula’s Maseno School from Lake.

The final scores ended at 74-29 with Upper Hill showing their intentions early when they took the 1st quarter with an impressive 21-8. In the second quarter Upper Hill who got a chance to participate at the games courtesy of Laiser Hill who won the Metropolitan games being disqualified for fielding ineligible players took charge once more getting 21 points against Mangu’s 6 points to put the half time scores at 42-14.

The 3rd quarter was slow paced but Upper Hill dominated once more getting 10 points while Mangu followed closely getting 7 points. Ronny Owino’s side upped the tempo once more in the last quarter and they wrapped up the match with a 20-8 win over the hosts to get a comfortable win.

Speaking to michezoafrika.com after the match Owino expected a tough match against Maseno despite beating them 74-43 on Thursday, “playing a team twice in the same tournament and beating them is not easy therefore we have to put the boys in the right state of mind and not let them think that they will have an easy match.”

The finals will be played on Saturday at the Mang’u High School.
