Surprise package Sacred Heart lifted the Mombasa Secondary Schools County ball games boys title after they shocked defending Champions Tononoka  4-2  in the finals played at Tudor ground on Friday 12/07/2013.

Sacred Heart opened the scoring in the 29th minute through Rodgers Okumu but Tononoka cancelled the lead one minute later through Rama Mwanzia. Baraka Kalu doubled the lead for the victors in the 32nd minute for a 2-1 lead at breather.

Kevin Migele scored the third goal for Sacred Heart in the 50th minute. Tononoka reduced the arrears five minutes later through Khamisi Abdudi.Eric Okumu sealed victory for Sacred Heart five minutes after an hour’s mark.

During the match, Tononoka custodian Ahmed Salim had to be rushed to hospital for treatment after he collided with a defender in a goal mouth melee.

Following the results both Sacred Heart and Tononoka will now represent Mombasa  County in the Coast Regional ball games scheduled for Malindi next Thursday 18th  and Friday19th July, 2013.

On their way to the summit, Sacred Heart whitewashed Likoni 6-1 while Tononoka knocked out Changamwe 2-1 in the semi-finals played at the same venue in the morning.

In the girls edition, Moi Forces Academy lifted the title after they registered a hard fought 1-0 win over New Apark in the ladies finals played at Khamisi ground on Friday afternoon.

Moi Forces Academy had the last laugh when Ozma Nyamoita sealed the win in the 74th  minute.

On their way to the podium, Moi Forces Academy routed Mwakirunge girls 2-0 while New Apark thrashed Mbaraki Girls 3-0 in the semi-finals played at the same venue in the morning.

Mbaraki Girls were included as a replacement for Ushindi girls who were disqualified after failing to produce the required student identification documents.

With the results, both Moi Forces Academy and New Apark will represent Mombasa County in the Coast Regional ball games scheduled for Malindi next Thursday 18th  and Friday19th July, 2013 in the girls category.
