Obambo dethrone Shimba Hills, crowned new Champions in Netball

Obambo mixed secondary school from Siaya county are the 2013 Kenya national secondary school champions after white washing defending champions Shimba Hills 45-19 in a final match played at the Mangu school on Saturday morning.

This was the third time the two teams were meeting in the finals with SHimba having won the two previous ones.

Obambo started well in the first quarter winning 14-7 with shooter Irene Ngesa collecting half of the score. Obambo continued well in the second quarter stretching the win to21-10 once again Ngesa and Christine Ongiro doing the damages against the defending champions.

Keepers Jackline Auro and Lucy Akumu were in great form also applying their superior height Advantage against their opponents. The quarter ended 37-15. In the final quarter the new champions attacked less holding back but went on to win 45-19.

Shimba have been four time successful champions and came to the finals with an iunbeaten run from the group stages. The winners will represent the country in the East Africa school games to be held in Kampala Uganda in August.
