Korir takes home 10,000m crown in school games

Geoffrey Korir won the 10000M men finals on day one of the ongoing term one Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association school games on Thursday morning at the Kasarani stadium. Korir needed 29.02.6 to win the tightly contested race with Rogers Maiyo and Joseph Mbatha coming in second and third respectively in a time of 29.03.7 and 29.03.9.

Korir said the weather was good therefore enhancing him to take home the 27 lap event in the mid morning race.

“I am happy to have won this race and therefore qualifying for the August East Africa secondary school games to be held in Kampala. I have to work hard in my training to bring the country glory.” He said

In the 3000m Festus Kiprono won the race in a time of 9.57.7 where he was followed by Alexander Mutiso in a time of 9.59.18 with Elvis Kemboi coming in third in a time 8.01.03
