Kapkolei recovers to beat Matuga

Defending National Schools’ hockey champions Kapkolei recovered from a rare 2-0 defeat on Tuesday to beat Matuga Girls of Kwale by a similar margin as the national secondary school games entered day too in Nakuru.

The champions will be meeting East Africa Schools’ defending champions Kerugoya Girls from Abadare in their final pool A match to be played on Thursday.

According to one of the coaches in the games the level of play from the teams has dwindled as the  teams kind of lost the momentum they had gained over the three months they had trained from January to march  before going for holiday.

“The whole point of moving hockey from term one was misinformed. After such a long time the students comeback having lost form. The issue has been raised to the games sponsors Brookside who have agreed to move the sport to term one.” Said the coach.

The games going on in Nakuru have been termed as very dull since they have no sponsorship.
