Starting roles will be on merit- Logarusic

Gor Mahia Coach Zdravko Logarusic says that he will be using on-form players whose combinations produce results, and not necessarily sticking to a particular pattern of the starting team. Logarusic says that for any player to be in his team, he has to prove that his form is worth fielding.

The Croat who has completely transformed Gor Mahia since coming into the team in March last year has particularly praised the combination between Edwin Lavatsa and ex-KCB striker Mungai Kiongera.

“Yes, Ssserunkuma was our top scorer last year and the best player in the league but at the moment, he is not at the right form to start. You can see Kiongera and Lavatsa are on form and their partnership is producing results. For Danny, I know his form will come much later because he is also picking up,” Logarusic notes.

He has also lauded his forward line which he says is the most lethal at this particular point;

“Look at Kiongera., look at Kelvin (Omondi), then Danny, then Lavatsa…. All of these are national team material players. I am comfortable as a coach with such a forward line because my philosophy of attacking play will always be executed,” he adds.

Looking back at the 1-0 win against Sofapaka, Logarusic is happy with the three points from the former Champions.

“We played very well and the players were disciplined tactically.  Step by step we are growing in confidence and we are on the right path. We play continental football this weekend and this puts us in the right mood for that match,” he adds.
