Wednesday evening match between Gor Mahia and Kenyan Premier League new boys Muhoroni Youth will be no ordinary match for the Nyanza based side. The two sides met in a pre-season friendly and Gor Mahia triumphed but Wednesdays match will be approached with more seriousness.
The match will be played under a floodlit Nyayo Stadium from 7pm.This will be the first time Muhoroni Youth play under such conditions. The intimidating 12th man for Gor Mahia will also be another factor that could give Muhoroni Youth “Stage fright”.
Playing under floodlights pose some challenges to first timers BUT Muhoroni youth coach Alfred Imonje has downplayed the floodlights affair saying his team is full of experience and players who have played under floodlights before.
“We know this is a hard match yes but it is not true that this will be the first time we are playing under floodlights. Most of my players have played in other premier league teams before and they know what to expect. It is not the lights that play but players.” Said Imonje.
“We trained under floodlights on Tuesday a day before the match and am sure by now the boys are confident enough and sure of what to expect.” Added Imonje who promised to offer resistance to Kenya’s CAF representatives.
