AFC Leopards players to pocket 18k if they beat Gor Mahia

AFC Leopards players could walk away with a handsome bonus if they manage to beat their arch-rivals Gor Mahia this weekend in the highly anticipated return leg derby on Sunday at the Nyayo national stadium.

A peep into the Leopard’s officials’ coffers reveals each player could walk away with 18,000 shillings untaxed cash if they beat Gor Mahia.

Over the weekend, Mumias Sugar CEO Evans Kidero promised to give 200,000 shillings for a win on Sunday translating to 10,000 shillings per player. The team’s home win bonus is 5,000 shillings while chairman Ole Magelo’s winning bonus stands at 3,000 shillings.

Don’t be mistaken, this is besides the salary the players pocket at the end of the month. Majority of the AFC Leopards players’ salaries range between 40,000 -60,000 shillings a month.

In total, with a good form and winning streak, some of the players in the AFC Leopards camp could be raking in close to one hundred thousand shillings a month from bonuses, training allowances and salaries.

With the sugar becoming a precious commodity in Kenya, a draw could be seen as a barter trade for sugar and milk between the two sides. Which team will walk out smiling?
