After a convincing 6-2 win over Daystar University in the national men’s league on Sunday Wazalendo Youth captain James Omondi has reiterated the club’s desire for promotion to the top flight.

The youth side was playing in the second match of the 2013 season following a draw with Technical University in the opening week round of fixtures last week.

Wazalendo’s mauling of the students started when Gideon Kimunge netted a quick brace scoring the first in the 3rd minute while the other came five minutes later.

The first one was classic counter with Wazalendo outplaying the students in the midfield. Defender Moses Karochi showing experience exchanged passes with Erick Ochieng who quickly spotted the goal scorer to finish the quick counter attack in style.

The second goal was more of the students blunder after they failed to clear the ball after keeper Kevin Misachi had made a clever save.

Allan Akoyo the lone forward who scored a double pulled one for Daystar in the 11th minute with his seconds coming with 10 minutes to the end.

New signing Simon Mwangi scored a double for Wazalendo a goal in either side of the halves. To complete the assault Peter Mulati too scored a double for the winners late in the second half.

The captain said the club has one objective to play in the Premier together with the Wazalendo main team which is currently playing in the top flight league.

“We have the players who have shown will and fighting spirit to work for top honour which is finishing top of the league and getting promotion. We have not lost a match and we want to keep it that way.” He noted.

Omondi added the club had had new players joining who have settle well at the club most of which have shown experience and hunger for victories at their new club.

New arrival forward Simon Mwangi from Mount Kenya University (MKU) who netted a brace during the rout, said he wanted a new challenges something he has had at the club.

“It was great nice getting brace in the match. We played well and by all means deserved maximum the points and should have scored more goals.” He said.
