Wazalendo Youth are determined to halt high riding Multimedia University in a men national league match to be played at the City Park stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Though undefeated Wazalendo are a point lower of the students with nine points and a win will lift them above their opponents and team captain James Omondi is confident his side will maintain the unbeaten run even against the higher ranked students.

In their opening four rounds of matches, Waza as they are commonly referred to have managed two wins and a similar number of draws.

Though he will be out on suspension after picking a straight red in the third match, Omondi says the players are in good shape to get the work done on Saturday.

“We have a big squad to play even in my absence. They have done it before against Parklands ,I therefore believe they  can do it against the students.” He said.

The captain however challenges the governing body Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) calling upon them to release full fixtures for the season to enable clubs plan in advance for matches.

“The concept of releasing fixtures abruptly is not doing us any good. Most of our players are students currently doing their exams. It could have been good to alert them in advance of upcoming matches. We are playing the league for the love of the game and not the union officials.” He said.
