Davies Wanangwe scored in the second half to win the much talked about Simba derby  pitting champions Nairobi Simba and Kisumu Simba at the City Park Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Both the Wanangwe Siblings of Davies and Frank were on the score sheet for the respective clubs in the high octane match though it was the younger brother who had to claim all the bragging rights after the 70 minutes of play.

The 2-1 fulltime scoreline was not a repeat of the same fixture last season when the champions won 4-3 in a match that was played in Kisumu.

Forward Zack Aura who was facing his former club was a constant threat for the lakeside outfit hitting the post on  a couple of occasions and once failing to guide home Frank Wanangwe’s through pass later in the first half.

The elder Wanangwe who joined Kisumu at the beginning of the season  from Strathmore University leveled the score line five minutes after the breather with an acute angle shot from inside the box.

The younger Wanangwe too formerly of Strathmore University settled the high tempered match in the 50th minute to continue Nairobi’s dominance over Kisumu in the recent past.

The match left both sides on nine points   in joint fourth though the champions have played a match more. Kenya Police whose match with Greensharks was rained off lead the table standings with 18 points, followed, by United States International University Africa-USIU-A , while Wazalendo are third.

“The match lived up to the billing, we expected tempers to go high even before kickoff, however it is a game and we have to expect such. It was a brilliant match for the neutrals.” said the younger Wanangwe.

“Sure we played very well in the entire match. We came back strong after trailing to draw level before conceding later on. The match was awesome if you ask me.” Said  Frank.
