David Olalo memorial tournament that was to be held at the City park hockey stadium this weekend has been moved to Barclay’s sports club in what has been termed as logistical technicalities by the organizers.
The tournament is to feature a men and women 8 aside hockey tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
According to the chairman Mr. Nyangaga Nixon, The tournament will be an annual event held in memory of the GreenSharks patron David Olalo who died through a tragic road accident late last year.
“The aim of the tournament will be to celebrate Davy’s commitment and participation in improving hockey and sports in general” said the chairman
Registration per team per category is ksh.4,000.However for clubs registering two teams per category, they will have a discount and will pay ksh.7,000. All Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) affiliated teams, institutions and schools have been invited for the tournament.
The tournament will also act as a pre-season meet for clubs since the Kenya Hockey Union has organized none this year. Last year, the NOC-Kenya floodlights tournament lifted by Nairobi Simba, served as the pre-season meet.
